NAMAQUALAND WILD FLOWER TOUR

Each and every South African should experience the beauty of the Namaqualand – it is an experience of a lifetime!
After the winter rains the landscape becomes a carpet of wild flowers with richly colored patches of Namaqualand Daisy, Vygies and many more.   The flower season peaks between mid August and mid September.   Perhaps nowhere else on the face of the earth is the season of spring welcomed by nature with such an extravagant flower display as it is in the Namaqualand?  Freeman Patterson calls it the “Garden of the Gods”
We invite you to come with us – come and enjoy this unbelievable beauty of springtime in the Namaqualand.

4-DAY TOURS: Once again we offer our ever-popular 4-day flower tours to the real Namaqualand - the Kamieskroon and Springbok areas far from the ’easier-to-reach’ areas nearer Cape Town. Here are the classic displays of worldwide fame. We base ourselves around Kamieskroon , home of acclaimed photographer and raconteur Colla Swart. From here we go on flower expeditions with our guide, accompanied on one full day by a local specialist guide. We also tour the dramatic landscape with its huge rocks, succulents, and mineral wealth, opening our eyes to the fact that Namaqualand is not only a venue for the famous but transient flowers, but a permanent amphitheatre of semi-desert grandeur.

6-DAY TOURS: These new longer tours include the core Kamieskroon portion described above, and an additional 2 nights and days in the Nieuwoudtville and West Coast areas. This gives more opportunities for good flower displays and a wider range of flower species, plus extra delightful and varied scenery.

WEST COAST REAL VENTURE TOUR

Here is one of the most unspoilt regions in the country. The pure air, friendly people, and wide horizons of sea and sky clear one's head of trivial concerns, and nature goes about its business blissfully heedless of the big city to the south. This 5-day tour will show you the West Coast in transition.

We head north from the 'new'  West Coast of high-rise apartment blocks and holiday homes, into the traditional West Coast of crayfish and bokkoms, seafarers and saltpans, and a sense of infinite freedom. We stay 2 nights at Velddrif, at the mouth of the Berg River, and 2 nights at a guesthouse further north up the coast.

The tour includes cruises in Saldanha Bay and on the Berg River, bird watching, an archaeological dig, and touring in superb coastal and mountain scenery throughout. Our route covers the coastal areas of Paternoster, Langebaan, Elands Bay, Verlorenvlei, and Lamberts Bay, the inland coastal belt of the Sandveld and the mountains that tower over it; and lastly we head for the West Coast winelands (yes – incredibly they have a lot of winelands!) before arriving at the Olifants River valley and Clanwilliam for a final lunch together before we head homewards.

WINE TASTING AND VINEYARD TOUR

(HIGHLY RECOMMENDED BY WILDLIFE TOURS, SOLO TOURS AND ZULU TOURS)

Kakamas, the green valley of grapes as some call it, has hundreds and hundreds of vineyards covering the areas next to the Orange River. We offer a true relaxed but adventurous wine tasting experience at one of the local and private wine cellars. The farmer and/or winemaker will take you through the process of this unique wine making. To end this sundowner venture off, enjoy the famous old Hanepoot with the sun making colours in the background. Afterwards, you can buy wines from the local Wine Deli.

The Wine Estate itself: Welcome to Die Mas Boerdery! 'Die Mas' is directly translated as being the mast of a ship giving it the driving force to go forward and conquer…. Also “mas” plays tongue in the cheek with the word ‘Kakamas'. Therefore 'Die Mas van Kakamas' and its three-mast ship symbol represent Vlok and his family who run the estate and strive to become a mast or positive driving force in the community they are serving.

In English the word 'boerdery' means farm or place where farming takes place. In our case the main focus is on export table grapes. The farm is situated 3km outside the town of Kakamas directly on the bank of the Orange River in the Northern Cape province of South Africa. This area is very well known and suited for growing grapes, in particular table grapes. Reason for this being the early time of ripening for export grapes from this area. The farm has also recently expanded ventures into tourist accommodation and the production of their own wine.

AUGRABIES FALLS NATIONAL PARK DAY TOUR

Few sights are as awesome or a sound as deafening as water thundering down the 56m Augrabies Waterfall when the Orange River is in full flood. The Khoi people called it ‘Aukoerebis’, or place of Great Noise, as this powerful flow of water is unleashed from rocky surroundings characterized by the 18km abyss of the Orange River Gorge. Picturesque names such as Moon Rock, Ararat and Echo Corner are descriptive of this rocky region. Klipspringer and kokerboom (quiver trees) stand in stark silhouette against the African sky, silent sentinels in a strangely unique environment where only those that are able to adapt ultimately survive. The 55 383 hectares on both the northern and southern sides of the Orange River provide sanctuary to a diversity of species, from the very smallest succulents, birds and reptiles to springbok, gemsbok and giraffe.

Liquid360 Adventures offers a unique day tour to the Augrabies Falls National Park where our trained and qualified guide will show you the wonders of this world famous waterfall and national park
